Oops
Apologies for the late, short post. The Man took me out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate my new job last night. I had planned on doing a lovely spiel about the evening, complete with pictures of my fancy eye make up. Unfortunately, how do I put this, my insides were not as happy as I was with dinner and they made no qualms about expressing their displeasure. As such I have spent the last 18 hours feeling rather sorry for myself. However, here is a picture of me from when I was feeling rather pleased with myself approximately 24 hours ago.

Time. Old and New.
Ahh another super busy day in the neighbourhood. I may just go bald from the amount of times I ran my fingers through my hair in...not frustration but more, "how on earth will I get this done in the time that I have?!". You know, that.
But, my friends, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Light in the form of a new job. I have accepted a really exciting position which means I will have more time to dedicate to the things I love. Like my styling work and keeping up with all of your wonderful blogs and comments. I must say I have been really sad at how little opportunity I have had to dedicate to this. So fear not! I will be poring over your photos and commenting up a storm before too long!
I would like to share with you (argh! Centre damn you! You're messing up my presentation.) the song that The Man played in honour of the occasion this evening. Truly he is the greatest husband in the known and unknown universes.
As an aside, today is Remembrance Day. I love the poppies they have for sale and I always do my best to set aside a moment to think of those we've lost. Not to take anything away from them but today will definitely be a day I remember now too.

Sweet Sally-Ann
I feel a little country today. Not bumpkin, more...whatever isn't bumpkin I guess. I'd say that I'd be at home in a field but you and I both know my reaction to fields.
This dress is gorgeous. So light and soft. It was my reception dress after we were married so it makes me feel happy whenever I wear it too.
I made this necklace this morning and I'm rather pleased with it I must say. It's pretty simple, a badge strung on a chain but it just works so well with the outfit. I have a feeling this won't be the last that you see of it. I'm glad to have a use for the gold chain too. I rarely wear gold although there are often gold/copper accents with a lot of my brown leather belts.
I'm really wanting some wooden jewellery. Necklaces in particular. In my mind I want some long, brown, wooden beads. I have been looking for months but can't seem to find anything. I know this story though. 6 months from now they'll be everywhere.

Itchy & Scratchy
Not to give anything away, but we were traipsing through a field on Sunday for the photo shoot. Field? Paddock? Meadow? What's the difference? Is it just that paddock sounds awful compared to the other two?
What I would like to give away though are the infuriating bug bites that I have been left with. Dear dog, the are driving me mad!! That's right, 2 exclamation marks worth of mad.
I've taken an antihistamine and I'm minutes away from dunking myself in a calamine bath. Now that's an attractive look.
In hindsight, perhaps a spotty dress was not the best fashion move in my bid to play down the spots on my legs.

After Effects
While holidays are fantastic, the amount of catching up on everything you need to do when you get back, well, it's not so fantastic. It's OK though. I think I'm back in the swing of things.
What I don't feel like I'm back in the swing of though, is outfits. It's happened before and it's happening again it seems - wardrobe funk. I'm going to put it down to an intimidatingly large collection of washing to get through. Plus it's actually starting to get kind of warm. Huh, Spring, who would have thought it? Seriously, it's like it listened to all of my complaining way back in September.
On another note, we went to the Good Food and Wine Show on Saturday. It was brilliant. As it is every year. This year I decided to wear a fork in my hair in honour of the occasion. I took great delight in hearing people whisper "it's the fork girl" behind their hands as I walked by.

A Few Thousand Words
We had such a wonderful time in New Zealand. I know I've said that already but we really, really did. It took a couple of days to get in the groove of just relaxing and doing nothing. But once I was in that groove I sure as shoes didn't want to get out again.
These pictures are a rather accurate representation of how I spent a large percentage of my time:
Other activities included - being chased by a sea lion. Sounds funny, it was actually quite confronting. They're not small!
Enjoying amazing Mexican Food.
Appreciating the local street art.
Soaking up the sunshine. It stayed light until 8:45pm! I could hardly believe it.
Visiting a castle.
Savouring indecently good room service.
Loving my Man.

Deserter
We're home! Tell you what, it was hard to come back. A girl could get used to that kind of life. Incredible food. Amazing drinks. Drinks at 11am even! And on a school day. Not to mention the absolutely gorgeous country side and the suite at Braemar Lodge and Spa. No fooling, it's probably the nicest room I've been in, in my entire life. Room service, snow capped mountains. Massages. Eggs benedict with smoked salmon for breakfast every morning.
It was all I could do not to run away and hide in the hills somewhere. Fashion a tent from some fallen branches and woven grass. Catch salmon down by the river. Though I'm not really sure how you'd make hollandaise sauce right from nature.
But I couldn't do it. I couldn't leave you, my lovely, lovely readers. Thank you for all of your wonderful comments while I was away. I'm glad you liked little me. She's pretty cute huh? I'll write back to you all once the dust has settled. Unfortunately I've come back and hit the ground scrambling! So many things in the calendar including a really exciting photo shoot which I will share as soon as I can.

The Teenage Years
I speak so often about my teenage self. I thought I'd introduce her to you all. This is me at 13, coming home from school. I wore that grey sweater almost every day because it reminded me of Kurt Cobain. Always with a white T shirt peaking out from underneath. The blue skirt was part of the uniform. Aside from photo day, this was the only part of the uniform that I ever wore that year.
This is me at 14. I love this photo. I felt so great in what I was wearing. Those are my Mum's torn and patched jeans from the 80's. That's my little Brother's T shirt. The flannelette is mine. I think I was going out to a Battle of the Bands.
And this is 15. Gosh what a great dress. I wish I still had it now. I'd love to know what I was playing on the guitar. Probably something by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Note the Nirvana poster on the wall above my bed. At one stage I had 45 Nirvana posters on my wall.
These are the times that I look back on and miss. Nostalgia. Definitely. These were times that defined me. That shaped me. This girl didn't take any crap. She knew what she liked and she wasn't afraid to tell you otherwise. She wore her hair wild, her jeans torn and made dresses from curtains. I am stoked to have known her and I'd like to think that if we knew each other now, we'd share a wry grin, a frozen coke and a mutual admiration.

Four
I'm four in this one and wearing my Nan's glasses. She called me "Apple Cheeks" a lot when I was younger and for some reason I think of that every time I see this picture.
I'd like to take the opportunity to point out my awesome overalls. Pretty great huh? Now what if I were to tell you that my Mum made them for me out of a pair of her own pants? Isn't that just the coolest thing ever? She's so awesome. I'm glad she made me.

Three
Here I am, age 3, with my kitten Molly. I had 3 cats named Molly when I was younger. One after the other. Not all at the same time. That would have been confusing.
I would like to think that they were named after Molly Ringwald. The Breakfast Club, my favourite movie, did come out that same year. Though, I wouldn't watch it for another 18 years. But, you know, maybe I just knew.
Someone once told me that I was like "a punk rock Molly Ringwald". Single best compliment EVER.
