And I’m Heelin’ Good
It was another public holiday yesterday. This one was for Labour Day. It’s one of those holidays that no-one is really sure what they’re getting it for but are happy to have the day off. Lord I’m glad yesterday was a holiday because I was feeling pret-t-y tender let me tell you. We had a fantastic time with friends on Sunday night in which I discovered my hidden talent for a) Singstar and b) drinking like a fish. A fish that likes to drink lots of different types of things in one night and then feels mighty sorry for itself the next day. And even part of the day after that.
I was, needless to say, really pleased that I had this outfit planned in advance when I woke up this morning. When I first tried this dress on in the fitting room I immediately thought of all of the different tights I could pair it with. I spied these shoes at the back of my wardrobe last week and they just begged to be paired with some purple. So on my weekend shopping reconnaissance mission I picked up this pair. Then last night I realised that this belt matches perfectly. It was meant to be.
These are the only heels I own and every time I wear them, which is maybe every 6-12 months, I remember why I don’t wear heels any more. Sure they look great (a lot better than they've shown up here), they’re gorgeous, but they are not comfortable or practical. And while I’m not really a stickler for that kind of thing, something that makes my back twang and my busted toe all ouchy is not really high on my repeated wear list.
I’m glad I’ve worn them today though. I’m really happy with this whole outfit. I feel like a more refined/respectable version of my usual zany colourful self. One of the young guys at work commented this morning that I have “so many crazy outfits”. I said it was a thing that I do to which he responded that I “have the best fashion in the building.” Bless his cotton socks! He made my day. He then said that my wardrobe must be like that of a super hero with the outfits all put together and then you push a button and it rotates. It is now my mission to transform my wardrobe into that of a super hero. First I need to get bitten by a spider…
