Will It Blend?

We had a srs bzns meeting on at work today. I asked The Man to remind me about it when I was getting dressed this morning so I didn’t inadvertently look like the cleaning lady again. But when it came time to put something together I really couldn’t bring myself to straighten it up. Rather than bore us all I decided to go with what I felt, only muted.

Why, with these unobtrusive colours I could pretty much disappear in my surroundings. Provided they were foliage and not the boardroom.

This whole outfit was based on the fact that the shirt and jacket have the same collar style. I think it worked out just fine.

Except maybe the stockings. While I for one love the fact that I don’t have to de-hair the ol’ pins quite so often in the cooler months, I am yet to find a pair of “flesh toned” (yeah right) stockings that don’t make me look like I’m either trying out for a chorus line or like I’ve just crawled out from the crypt. And don’t even get me started on low rise VS control top. Sheesh. If any of you have any suggestions, lay ‘em on me. In the meantime I’m off to pick up a razor. For the legs, not the wrists. Don’t worry, I don’t take shiny stockings that seriously…

Jacket: Hand me down
Shirt: Thrifted
Skirt: Target
Bracelets: ? & Gift
Stockings: Myer

  5. Hahaha So funny that last line but in all seriousness the whole flesh coloured stocking challenge is so not funny, surely there must be a pair somewhere out there that doesn't shine or macabre the legs! I'm thinking another way to boycott the whole situation is to go for a selection of 'light' textured tights in various shades of brown? After all flesh coloured stockings are (no matter how we try) still sort of obvious so why not go the other way with 'okay i know you can see them but aren't they a nice shade of tights?' angle? Just a thought from my flesh coloured brain heh heh eeewww xx Btw LOVE this outfit, it smacks of originality yet tows the office-elegance line. With your cheekbones, eyes, hair and 'air of 1940's classic beauty' you can't go wrong girlfriend xx

  6. I love how you dressed up this jacket! It's such a stylish office look. I'm really lucky - I only have to shave once a week :)
