The Teenage Years

I speak so often about my teenage self. I thought I'd introduce her to you all. This is me at 13, coming home from school. I wore that grey sweater almost every day because it reminded me of Kurt Cobain. Always with a white T shirt peaking out from underneath. The blue skirt was part of the uniform. Aside from photo day, this was the only part of the uniform that I ever wore that year.

This is me at 14. I love this photo. I felt so great in what I was wearing. Those are my Mum's torn and patched jeans from the 80's. That's my little Brother's T shirt. The flannelette is mine. I think I was going out to a Battle of the Bands.

And this is 15. Gosh what a great dress. I wish I still had it now. I'd love to know what I was playing on the guitar. Probably something by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Note the Nirvana poster on the wall above my bed. At one stage I had 45 Nirvana posters on my wall.

These are the times that I look back on and miss. Nostalgia. Definitely. These were times that defined me. That shaped me. This girl didn't take any crap. She knew what she liked and she wasn't afraid to tell you otherwise. She wore her hair wild, her jeans torn and made dresses from curtains. I am stoked to have known her and I'd like to think that if we knew each other now, we'd share a wry grin, a frozen coke and a mutual admiration.
