Home Town Tourist

See that behind me? It's a giant ball of yarn. Brisbane has turned woolie for winter. I saw some small pieces around during the week and it inspired me to seek out some of the bigger installations which then inspired me to take a moment to appreciate our little city. So The Man and I spent our Friday night wining, dining and taking it all in.

After work we met at a bar in the mall for a drink and a round of people watching. It's a favourite pass time of ours. I really love hearing The Man's opinions on what people are wearing. He gets into it too.

The bar was opposite The Regent Cinema which is a gorgeous cinema from the 1920's that is closing down to be made into offices. It's just heart breaking. There were lots of dolled up ladies (and guys) out front waiting for the Sex and the City preview I imagine. I'll be seeing it next week as part of a fund raiser. We're going straight from work so I have to figure something I can transform from casual Friday to Sex and the City premiere worthy.  Stay tuned.

From drinks we went to dinner at a little Italian place and while we were there a protest took place. It was pretty emotive stuff. Once we'd had our fill of dinner we set off to find some of the little woolie masterpieces.

St Francis House has been abandoned for as long as I can remember. I've always loved it so I was particularly excited that the little wool workers had paid attention to it. See the woollen garden up there? But wait, there's more...

Look at the little owls up there in the letter C! So adorable! Argh! That nest looks like a warm little moustache.

There was some cool bird graf on the front of the building too. And we all know how I like my birds.

We found the big balls of yarn, by the casino, on the river. Man alive it was cold down there! This is my, "hurry up and take the picture, it's freakin' cold!" face. It's not the best shot but I wanted you to see my shoes. These socks are new from the Myer Stock Take Sale. I have been wanting a pair of mustard knee high socks for so long and when I saw these I just about hyperventilated. In fact, I bought 2 pairs. I know they're not mustard. They're definitely yellow. But it was decided today that pairing them with this cardigan has made them "mustard by association". Mustard By Association may just be my new favourite phrase. And even the name of my clothing label or next band or first born child...

Cardigan: Big W
Dress: Target
Necklace: Equip or Accessorise or something like that
Belt: Was Mum's
Slip: ?
Arm warmers: Sportsgirl

  4. Love your long socks with those shoes. David and I sometimes like to people-watch and make up stories about their lives. It's fun :) And by David and I, I mean me. He just listens. Haha.

LOL at your last couple of lines. Definitely name the clothing line that. Seriously.
