Round 'Em Up!

I've had a couple of requests that I dish about the goodies I found in Sydney. And hey, I please to aim. So here you go.

Might I just note that this is an edited version. I'm pretty sure you don't want to see the thermal pajamas that I bought and have worn pretty much constantly since. Or the underwear. Maybe you do, but this ain't that kind of blog. Oh and of course the sweater I wore yesterday. And a book. But aside from all that here is what I got:

Turns out I'm really into blue and brown right now. I didn't even realise until I'd bought half this stuff and then looked down at my bag. I sure ain't complainin' though (or opposed to using slang as it would appear).

80's Baby

I love my new sweater! I got it when we were in Sydney for the blink of an eye. All I've wanted to wear this autumn has been a sweater over a dress or skirt so I was stoked when I finally found one that ticked all of my boxes.
  1. Reminiscent of the late 80's/early 90's? Tick!
  2. On sale? Tick!

Guess I'm not that picky. Sure there were other requirements. But I won't bore you with them. Just like I won't bore you with the rest of this outfit. Not that it's boring. It's not. Boring. But it does involve slippers. While I'm at work. So maybe I should change "bore" to "jealous". But then that doesn't make sense. "I won't jealous you with the rest of this outfit"? I'd never say something like that.

Whirlwind

We took a whirlwind trip to Sydney on Friday (Catherine the next one is directed at you!) and shopped our butts off! I mean we wore our feet fair into the ground.

It was totally worth it though. And just SO much fun!

It was a trip we’ve wanted to take for ages. Down with empty bags (just carry on) and back the next day with them bulging.

And would you believe they didn’t weigh our luggage there or back? Winning! Perhaps I should have bought more books...

We stayed near Hyde Park. I could have spent the entire trip just gazing at the trees.

But there were things to be bought! So off we trundled.

I really lucked in, on pretty much everything. So stay tuned for much preening and posing.

Feed The Birds, Tuppence A Bag

I took my laptop and worked in the City yesterday. I really must do it more often.

The highlight of the day was that I got to have lunch in the park with The Man, like the good ol' days. (I swear we hung out! I wasn't on my phone the whole time...)

It's a really cool little place to escape in the middle of a whole lotta hustle and bustle.

Unless of course you are looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of pigeons...

Such Great Heights

I thought that last entry had pictures from the highest point of my trip (Distance wise. Fun wise? There were far too many and also...none were captured on film (not that these are on film but it doesn’t sound as good to say “captured on phone”)) but turns out they’ve been pipped by a plane.

I’m not afraid to fly. Lord knows I’ve done a lot of it in my time. But I do have a bit of a problem with it...

Instead of freaking out that we’re going to crash; or realising that we’ve all been breathing the same air for the last 2.5 hours (um, ew, OK, maybe that does freak me out a bit), I get a little stir-crazy.

I pretty much need to get off the plane RIGHT NOW! Yes I know it’s another 2 hours until we land but I don’t think you understand. I need to get off the plane RIGHT NOW! I can’t sit in this seat anymore! I can’t visit the toilet and refold the point on the end of the toilet roll again! I’ve read everything within reading distance, watched every movie twice and my walkman has gone flat! (OK, that last one was from a few years back but you get my point. As an aside though, gosh it was fun (and also quite a process) to choose which 5 albums I’d listen to on repeat for the journey from San Francisco to Tokyo to Brisbane...)

Anyway you don’t need to worry. I’ve found a cure to the original “cabin fever” (get it? Cabin? Cuz that’s what they call it on a plane?)...Taking pictures of myself acting all like I’m not taking pictures of myself.

Hey, I didn’t say it was high brow...but it sure is better on the liver than the other alternatives I considered.

Roof Top Shots

Oh hi there. I'm just hanging out on the balcony of the executive apartment that my Wonderful Husband (yes, he deserves capitals) rented for my birthday in Melbourne.

What's that? You say you can't see a floor above me? That's because there isn't one! We were right up there on the very top floor.

How's that view? If there weren't 100's of stores below, asking me to come visit with my birthday money, I swear, I would've sat up there for the full 3 days.

Except for when it got too cold. And, it's Melbourne. So...yeah, probably not all that long really.

But gosh, isn't it pretty?

10:52pm

It was my birthday last week.

Actually, exactly a week ago today. Man, it feels like 3 months ago already. What was that thing about time going faster as you get older?

Anyway, I had a super fantastic time with the Fam. Sparklers and cake and foil (you had to be there) oh my!

And my Brother! Not only did he swing by for a surprise hug that left me singing "Eye Of The Tiger" all day, but he sent me off around the house on a treasure hunt.

He hid clues throughout the house that I had to find and decipher.

So fun! (Especially once I figured it out...)

Then The Man whisked me away to Melbourne for 3 days of eating, drinking and shopping! But that's a story for another time...

The First Step Is Admitting It

Um, I have a problem. I am addicted to padron peppers.

I know there are unhealthier addictions but they're pretty much consuming my every thought.

What does that have to do with me being in the Crime & Thriller section of Borders? Nothing, I just liked my outfit.

And I thought it might be a bit weird to post 4 pictures of padron peppers.

Hair's How It Happened

I cut my hair today and now it's not talking to me. Does anyone else's hair do this? Or is just mine...

It could be the best cut in the world (and it was! Guys! Papas and Pace...seriously - go! And ask for Tim. Tell 'em I sent you) but it gets all sulky for like 3 days.

Oh sure, in public it acts like everything's fine. But once we're alone it's a whole different story. It's like a petulant teenager. I can't reason with it and it's determined to distance itself as far from me as possible.

But it's ok. I know it'll come around.

Before too long I'll find it curled at the base of my neck, asking me to twirl it absent-mindedly while I stare at my computer screen; to treat it to that sweet smelling cream it likes. It'll take back the things it said in the heat of the moment, and we'll be cool again.

Sunshine And

We went to see Reggie Watts last night. Oh man, I don't even remember exactly what it was that made my cheeks burn from laughing so hard but I think we can safely say it was "everything" and leave it at that.

Only, actually, I won't leave it at that. I'll say this: Go and see him if you can! The dude is...he's really good, OK? Just go.

You know what made it even better last night? It was seated! At The Tivoli! Yes, I am officially an old person and delight at the option of sitting down at a venue.

Crazy thing you know...I can still hear when I sit down! I know! The body never ceases to amaze...
