Just Plain Fun
Ah what a fantastic weekend. Friday was great and it just kept on going. On Saturday we went to the Valley Fiesta and watched a break dancing competition. It was awesome.
I kept waiting for them to bust out the super impressive moves until I reminded myself that I couldn’t do anything remotely like what they were doing and then I just went back to being in awe of it all. Turns out it’s a regular occurrence. I’ll definitely go again.
Then Sunday saw the first picnic of the season. What? Vodka, brown paper and twine don’t say picnic to you? Ok, here’s something you might be a little more familiar with.
All in all it was a great time.
Now, only 97.5 hours until next weekend.

A Good Day
Today is a good day. Allow me tell you why.
I got flowers at work today. They were a surprise from The Man. The reason? No reason at all. I love this man.
I got my hair cut and I am really, really happy with it. I was so nervous that I was actually having palpitations before my appointment. Katie was amazing. So secure in her knowledge, down to earth and straight out talented. I have never walked out of a salon with my hair looking like my hair before. If you are in Brisbane and need a good stylist I can’t recommend her highly enough. The whole salon was great and any staff I interacted with were chilled out and just plain nice. Very, very happy.
My Strawberrynet order arrived and the lipstick is just what I was after. It’s super smooth and not at all drying. My foray into lipstick as opposed to lip gloss/balm has gotten off to a roaring start.
Its Friday.
Oh, and it’s raining. Ah, it doesn’t get much better than this.

| Another series in front of the bookshelf. This one's for you Ebs! |
I guess this is what happens when you pack all of your winter clothes away but then don’t replace them with your spring clothes and are left with those few things that transcend seasons hanging in your wardrobe.
I swear I meant to do the whole swap over on the weekend but time/access just didn’t permit. And so I paid the price with an outfit that I’m not very happy with. Well, I’m happy with everything except the dress.

On Safari
I like today. I really like the unexpected necklace with an otherwise sweet ensemble. Though the shoes toughen it up too (I know you can't see them in any of these pictures. You'll just have to take my word for it). I feel like I am on safari in this get up.
Although I didn’t come across any lions or elephants*, I did explore two new places in the city at lunch today.
T2 has opened up in the Queens Plaza. After much deliberating I settled on the Brisbane Breakfast. It seemed like the right thing to do. It is delicious and I am most pleased with my choice.
Next we went to the new Bread Top. I had a bamboo charcoal bun. Oh man. Stop the press. It was incredible.
And that completes my lunch expedition. It really is fun to discover new things in a town that you feel you know so well.
*Update - Walking up the stairs to our apartment this afternoon we came across a snake. It's safe to say it scared the *cuss word* out of me. The Man has since identified it as a Rough-scaled Snake. Awesome. Just because I live in a country where there are snakes all over doesn't mean I am any less freaked out when I almost step on one.

Your Own Blue
I feel a bit preppy today. A little Ralph Lauren. A little, I’m rich because my family is rich and we have a house in the Hamptons and I enjoy both boating and horse riding. That’s how I feel.
I really like the combination of blue and brown. Particularly the worn, beat up leather type of brown paired with the Bonds brand colour blue. Aussies, you know what I’m talking about, right? I know Valentino has his own colour red named for him. I reckon Bonds should get to lay claim on that colour blue.
This is the last time you’ll be seeing these shoes guys. You can say your good byes in your own time. They are well and truly falling apart. I have to simultaneously clutch and splay the toes on my right foot to stop the shoe falling off as I walk. You should see me try to run across the street. It’s quite a spectacle.

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day
This outfit is so comfortable. I really don’t care that this skirt is paunchy. The shape of the waist is a little weird so I’ve taken to rolling it a little. I think it helps.
I love the combination of grey and mustard. I feel like I should be in a Swedish Stationery Store. The braids probably help drive it home huh?
It rained all weekend which I absolutely loved. We had the doors and windows open late into the night and I smelled that most amazing scent of rain on a hot road. I’d forgotten how much I adore that smell. There were breezes with the door open. Real breezes. Not the cold winds of winter but the nice, refreshing breeze of Spring.
Slowly but surely, I’m coming around.

Hot Damn!
Hey! Hey you! Spring! Yeah I’m talking to you. What the hell man? Slow down! You’ve got a whole 3 months to show me how hot you can get. You don’t need to go in all full force on the second day. And let’s be honest, 28 degrees is rather unbecoming for a season such as yourself. I mean I’d expect it from summer but from you? I’m disappointed. Now, I hope you’ll have a good think about what we’ve talked about today and come back tomorrow with a much better attitude.
I’m sorry you had to witness that guys, but if you don’t get in early, they think they can walk all over you.
Now where was I? Oh yes. One of the girls from work was wearing the same dress as me today. There wasn’t any spontaneous combustion or even any sparks. But I did tell her that if I had been wearing my blazer, like her, there would have been a smack down. I suppose being a pacifist and all it was good that I went for this grandpa cardigan instead.

What It Is
It’s spring. I have decided to stop moaning and accept it for what it is. I have decided to think of the things that I like about spring. I have decided that I like the following things about spring:
Blossoms and the blooming
Dresses
Longer days
Still being able to wear cardigans for a little while
Still being able to wear knee high socks for a little while
Our wedding anniversary
Lawn bowls
Salads
Spring cleaning
Warm (not hot) sunshine
Sunsets
I had this outfit planned when I bought these shoes. It was exactly what I wanted to wear for the first day of spring. It embodies what I would like my spring wardrobe to look like. Pretty floral dresses, cardigans, light weight jackets and these shoes.
Always these shoes.

Thread
I was a bit worried about work today. Usually I’m prepared to shrug off any comments but I was feeling a little, delicate, today and if anyone questioned me I am almost sure I would have kicked them in the shin. And that’s not a good career move.
My fears were allayed as soon as I got in the lift this morning and the HR lady commented that she liked my hair clips. Win. Then my boss said she liked my nail polish. Epic win.
I mean it’s not as though I was indecent or anything. After all, I’m wearing tights, a skirt and a button up shirt. They just happen to clash. But if you look real closely, there is a thread. Allow me to direct you.
The leopard print tights share both the red of the shirt but also the darker shade of the skirt - which in turn has both a check pattern and a bluey colour that matches the check shirt - which has a faint yellow stripe - which works with my yellow skull and cross bones.
Not to mention of course the red of the paisley clip with the red of the skull clip which, wouldn’t you know it, matches the skull necklace.
