Do It Differently

Ok, I’m going to put it out there. Ethno-Zoot Suit. What do you think? Total Zoot Suit from the knees down. From the knees up I feel a little ethno/eclectic. Are you with me?

I didn’t plan any outfits last night. That’s right. Even though I took an extra day off yesterday I just didn’t have time. And that’s OK. It was fun to fly by the seat of my pants. Or dress as the case may be. Though I don’t think dresses have a seat so that kind of quashes that analogy.

This outfit was another flash of washing basket inspiration. I saw the dress and top together and thought it would be interesting to work them together. The tights and shoes were added this morning. I really like it. I feel interesting. I like that I’ve worn all of this before but differently. Let’s take a look shall we? I wore this top to the Sex and the City 2 event but didn’t manage to get a good picture. The belt I’ve worn on weekends so no evidence I’m afraid. This dress has made a few appearances here, here and here. The tights I did here. I’m not a leopard print fan usually but they remind my of my friend Hen and that makes me happy. Finally these shoes. I only found them last week but I can already see they have earned themselves a prime position in my wardrobe.

I’d like to take a moment to mention something else I’ve noticed that I’m doing differently since I started Lovers, Saints & Sailors. Dressing differently. Yes we’ve covered that but what I mean is not only am I wearing things I never would before – high waisted shorts, and skirts and so on but I am also dressing in different ways. Where before I would dress in what I hoped to be the most flattering silhouette. The one that made me look the slimmest, which is not always the case now. Today for example I have dressed for the prints. For the colour combinations. For the feel. This outfit does not make me look straight up and down, going in a little at the waist. It puffs out over my belly and on the side I could possibly look pregnant. But I don’t mind. And that is something very valuable that I have gained from blogging. I don’t have sponsors. I don’t have companies sending me free things to wear. I have not received any money for documenting my style every day. What I have gained though is a confidence, understanding and appreciation for both my body, clothes and concepts that I could never put a price on.

  1. It is most excellent to hear of the ways in which blogging has expanded your horizons. These are major achievements you're describing, which people spend tons of money in therapy to experience!
